Work Assignment 1: Support implementation and management to education sector programme for regular and extra budgetary programs of UNESCO. The assignments include:-
Assist the education programme specialist and national programme officer in planning, implementation and monitoring of UNESCOs regular and extra budgetary programmes for the biennium 2016-17;
Assist the education programme specialist and national programme officer in developing analytical reports, technical proposals and project documents for resource mobilization of UNESCO education sector programme and projects;
Gather data and information related to education sector especially for Punjab and ICT to support UNESCO Islamabad education sector programmes as well as to contribute offices knowledge base and advocacy work;
Support the roll out of the national and provincial consultations for advocacy and knowledge management of SDG-4/ Education 2030 particularly in Punjab and ICT;
Work Assignment 2: Support designing, implementation and monitoring of programme activities related to Literacy, TVET, Higher Education, ICT in Education and DRR The assignments include:-
Provide support and assistance needed to UNESCO Director, Programme specialist and National Programme Officer on Literacy, TVET, Higher Education, ICT in Education and DRR;
Provide technical inputs on behalf of UNESCO to the federal education ministry and provincial governments departments on developing policies and action plans especially on Literacy, TVET, Higher Education, ICT in Education and DRR;
Organize relevant capacity development and advocacy activities on Literacy, TVET, Higher Education, ICT in Education and DRR;
Participate in meeting and other activities organized by Development Partners and line ministries in particular Literacy, TVET, Higher Education, ICT in Education and DRR.
Work Assignment 3: Support implementation and management of the Girls’ right to education programme (GREP) and other similar projects and activities in Punjab and ICT. The assignments include:
Coordinate with relevant government officials and CSOs in Punjab and ICT to ensure effective and efficient designing, implementation and monitoring of UNESCO education programmes and projects in particular the GREP.
Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports and briefing on UNESCO education programmes and projects in particular the GREP for advocacy, monitoring and evaluation purposes which to be submitted to the relevant authorities;
Conduct periodic and ad-hoc visits to targets communities to monitor the project to ensure the effective implementation.
Work Assignment 4: Support to other team members and the Director. The assignments include:
Ensure effective coordination with Culture, Science, and Communication & Information section of UNESCO for their activities in Punjab and ICT;
Participate in meeting and other activities organized by Development Partners and line ministries for Punjab and ICT.
Contribute with substantive inputs in the meetings at development and humanitarian forums while ensuring UNESCOs visibility;
As part of the education team, support other team members for their programmatic, management and administrative tasks as needed;
Provide inputs, feedback in project proposal development by other sectors of UNESCO;
Perform any other task assigned by Director/Representative, Programme Specialist and National Programme Officer Education.
Master degree in Social Science or other related discipline from a recognized national or international university.
Minimum 3 to 4 years of professional experience in programme planning, management, monitoring and evaluation, preferably in education sector,
Experience in gender responsive and result based programme management.
Fully conversant with key issues and challenges in girls education in Pakistan.
Excellent Knowledge and understanding of working with local communities for promotion of education.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of how Government at national, provincial and district level functions.
Solid analytical and conceptualization skills
Excellent English drafting and presentation skills. Fluency in Urdu and preferably in other local languages.
Solid team skills and comfortable in working in a multicultural work place.
Note: The position entails regular travelling to provinces and districts. Women are especially encouraged to apply for the position.
