PTI workers were targeted because they were involved in a dispute with the PML-N candidate

Four Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf members have been shot dead and another is injured in Abbottabad. The incident took place when a candidate of PML-N started firing near a hotel in Fawara Chowk.

Two of the people shot, died at the spot. Rest of the three were taken to Benazir Shaheed hospital. Two of them died due to severity of their injuries.

Zakir ur Rehman, Nazir, Kala, Dostan died. Naveed was injured. The PTI workers were targeted because they were involved in a dispute with the PML-N candidate during the local bodies’ elections on 30th May. A case has been registered at Abbottabad cantonment police station. Chaudry Sajad has been reported as the aggressor in FIR.

A huge amount of Police force has been installed in the area where tussles took place during and after the elections. PTI workers protested on Shahra-i-Resham along with the dead bodies. It caused severe traffic jam but after the police negotiated with the members, they dispersed.

Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Murtaza Javed Abbasi was visiting the area and was sent back when the situation got critical after the shooting.

In the local elections of KPK many incidents of violence took place. The participants and even the supporters of opposing parties got into fights. Fourty seven people were injured while six were killed during the clashes all over the province.

Security arrangements were made and police force was deployed in all polling stations. Despite that, there were many incidents of violence. Many people came back without even casting a vote due to these clashes.

The opposition parties accused PTI for the clashes that took place during elections. They even alleged that PTI manipulated the election. Imran Khan, chairman of PTI, denied all the allegations and assured that an inquiry will take place. The opposition parties even asked for a re-election to which Imran Khan responded that he was more than willing for re-election.
