SRINAGAR, INDIAN-OCCUPIED KASHMIR: Yasin Malik, leader of the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference, remains in critical condition at a private hospital in Srinagar, held-Kashmir.
A spokesman for the Jammu and Kasmir Liberation Front called for people to pray for the health and well-being of their chairman, who they said was ‘severely ill’ and remains under intensive care at a private hospital.
According to Greater Kashmir, the spokesman said “A team of doctors immediately admitted him to ICU and started treating his arm that was in severe pain due to swelling and infection.”
He said that the Indian government ‘revengefully’ placed Malik in solitary confinement at the time of his arrest on July 9. He was already taking high antibiotics, bit instead of providing him with medical facilities, he was placed in solitary confinement by Indian forces.
On July 30, 2016 Malik was shifted to the central jail in Srinagar. Yesterday, he was sent to private hospital but was later referred to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Kashmir where doctors recommended a surgery.
JKLF spokesman added that Malik had suffered the infection on October 21 after he was given an injection at a diagnostic centre in Srinagar where he underwent a CT scan regarding a 7.7 mm stone present in his left upper ureter. The operation has now reportedly been postponed.
Yasin was given some injection in his right arm during the procedure that caused swelling that put him in severe pain. He suffered for a full night from high pain and fever but was not provided with any medical remedy till the next day.
The restive valley has seen the worst atrocities perpetuated by Indian forces since the last 105 days ever since the killing of Burhan Wani. Indian forces have resoted to brutal oppression including indiscriminate use of pellet guns which is responsible for loss of vision of several innocent Kasmiris.
The Foreign Office on Saturday strongly deplored the ‘torturous condition’ of Yasin Malik, and said that the several Kashmiri leaders including Mirwaiz Omer Farooq, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Aasiya Andrabi remain under custody.
Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria condemned the Indian forces genocide, crimes against humanity and blatant human rights violations in held-Kashmir.
