Bilawal terms Karsaz attack as ‘biggest terrorism’ against any party

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the Karsaz blast was the biggest terror attack on any political party in the world, ARY News reported.

PPP’s Salam-e-Shuhada rally in Karachi is officially underway. The party is organizing the rally to pay homage to the victims of Karsaz blast victims. The party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is leading the rally.

Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sherry Rehman, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Khursheed Shah, Latif Khosa, Qaim Ali Shah, Moula Bux Chandio are accompanying the PPP chairman in the public meeting.

Large number of party workers and supports have also gathered in their respective areas to welcome the rally.

The rally will pass through several areas of the metropolis including Bilawal Chowrangi, Mai Kolachi, Native Jetty, I.C.I Bridge, M.A. Jinnah Road, Kharadar, Lyari, Mazar-e-Quaid and Karsaz.

The party has completed preparations for the rally, which will commence from the Bilawal House in Clifton to Karsaz through the party stronghold of Lyari.

Karsaz blast was the biggest terrorism against any party, says Bilawal

While addressing the rally at Bilawal Chowrangi, Chairman PPP said that 18th October 2007 was the biggest terrorist attack against any political party of the world.

He said that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto chose Karachi as the city of her return to Pakistan. He added that Karachi is the heart beat of Pakistan.

The PPP chief added that the ex-prime minister did not back down from the threats she was receiving and kept challenging the evil-doers of the society.

He added Pakistan People’s Party restored democracy, hoisted the national flag in Swat and tackled poverty through Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

He went on to say that the supporters and lovers of Benazir Bhutto are alive.

“Benazir had come to Pakistan for ending dictatorship, terrorism, unemployment and sectarianism from the country,” Bilawal said.

Lashing at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran, Bilawal said that the responsibility of dealing with a “lion” has been given to a “sportsman.

Bilawal said, “We brought a change in Sindh and bringing a change within the party. With your support, we can bring a change in the country.”

He added that the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) federal government will continue to get stronger if opposition parties behave in a childish manner.

A welcome camp has been set up near the Bilawal House playing party tunes, while flags and banners have been placed in various parts of the city. A large number of party loyalists have already gathered at the camp.

The political party has also set its camps along the procession routes as well.

Earlier, Bilawal made a surprise visit to the welcome rally, where party workers were rather excited to see him. In his brief address, he said that it will be a historic rally.

“PPP was a force to be reckoned with, and would turn up in massive numbers to pay tribute to its martyrs who have laid down their lives for the sake of the party”, the PPP chairman said.

Strict security arrangements have been adopted for the public meeting. Twenty five Superintendent Police, 60 Deputy Superintendent Police and around eight thousand workers will be serving duty.

Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mahar said that they have not ruled any type of impending threat.

It should be noted that a welcome parade on the return of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan was attacked by terrorists with twin bombing near Karsaz in Karachi on 18th October 2007, resulting in death of more than 100 of People’s Party workers and sympathizers.

Bhutto survived the terrorist attack but assassinated in gun and bombing attack in Rawalpindi on December 27 same year after addressing an election rally of the party.
